The Government of India is now implementing the National Optical Fibre Network Project through the BSNL to provide high speed Internet round the clock to village panchayats which could put the computers already given to them in use, informed the General Manager of BSNL R B Madle, today.

Mr Madle said that in its first phase the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will provide internet connectivity to 354 villages in five tehsils including in Nanded tehsil 73, in Ardhapur 39, in Dharmabad 45, in Naigao 81 and in Kandhar tehsil 116.

The village panchayats have already been given various instruments including computer set, printer, scanner and other accessories but for having no Internet connection and due to technical reasons these instruments are gathering dust. If the high speed internet connectivity is made available the village panchayats could issue various documents to the villagers including 7/12 format, birth certificates, Life Insurance certificate and others and avoid their hardship, he added.
