The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship today discussed partnership with a private player, UrbanClap, with the purpose to increase job opportunities for the workforce trained under ”Skill India”. . MSDE has formed a joint working group to ensure the delivery on this partnership so that the skilled workforce can benefit from it at the earliest, said Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Pratap Rudy.
Mr Rudy said,”There is a huge demand in the market and we have ready skilled workforce trained, assessed and certified under Skill India. Partnerships like these will help us create the right linkages for jobs for the trained youth and better their livelihoods.” The workforce referred to in this partnership includes of individuals like beauty, spa , plumbing, electrician, carpenters, AC technicians, Refrigerator technicians, Washing Machine & Microwave technicians, painters, masons, etc.
He said that the Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), the autonomous industry-led bodies made the National Skill Development Centre and the Industrial Training Institutes( ITIs) will work closely with private sector players like UrbanClap and ensure that we bridge this gap between supply and demand of workforce as early as possible.” Mr Rudy said,“Skill India will partner with more such portals in the future to chalk out a path to growth for its skilled and certified workforce.
” Pointing out the role of such tie-ups in safeguarding the skilled people’s financial interests the minister said,” Direct Opportunities and linkages such as these will also ensure that middlemen do not take away a part of the profits leaving only the basic wage for the skilled workforce. The person can earn complete profit in return for his skills.” The NSDC will also share the data of skilled workforce through the Skill Database Management System (“SDMS”) with UrbanClap as per the different sectors they catered. Through the mobile app and website, the employers or individuals can search for the right trained professionals for their work.
