Given the grand international success of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, several Bollywood actors and actresses are exploring – and have launched games with their digital avatars. In a twist to the ultra casual experiences that other stars have signed up for, Zareen Khan’s avatar in Asura Fighter is a warrior in the near future who takes on ancient warriors and asuras. Zareen, star of movie franchises like Aksar, Housefull and Hate Story, is hot on the heels of fellow Bollywood icons as she jumps on the mobile gaming bandwagon.
Built by Bangalore’s Flixy Games in association with Tayutau Japan, the game leads the central protagonist, an expert on paranormal forces working for the Indian forces, on a chase across the mountains of Ladakh, the backwaters of Kerala and the deserts of Rajasthan among other gorgeous locales as she slays an immortal ancient evil unleashed in the near future.
Zareen Khan said, “I feel reading books or playing games is a good way to detox your mind. It gets you engrossed and channelizes your mind. I have grown up as a tomboy so video games and bikes come naturally to me. When the idea of putting together a fighting game with me as a character was shared I was thrilled. The graphics are amazing and the fight will truly get you hooked on.”
The game launches this week on Google Playstore (Android). On the idea behind Zareen Khan as the Asura Fighter, Felix Manojh, Founder of Flixy games, said, “The smartphone users in India show a strong preference for Action genre games . We are excited that we have the opportunity to portray Zareen in a brand new character. The game is built on top of a successful Japanese title ‘Beast Breakers’ by Tayutau, which has more than five lakh downloads. Asura Fighter is also localized in seven Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali. Five players from the first 50,000 downloads would also get a chance to meet Zareen.”
